Re: yokomo weights, how much do they weigh?

I simply use 3/16" ID mudguard washers placed over my front body posts and held with spare body pins. They cost about 15c each and are easily added or removed to tune the front grip. I don't know how much each one weighs, but who cares? Not enough front grip = add 2, too much front grip = take ...

Sorry for sounding like an a**, but I have posted the fact that the HPI part is a straight fit a few times.

Re: HSP/Drift Star STOCK FIT front one-way $40 shipped on Ebay

There has always been a front one way option for the HSP, a HPI nitro 3 front way #86122 is a straight fit.

It even looks the same as the HSP knock off, what a suprise... not.

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

Quick update, the OFNA LD3 shafts have been working fine for ages now, no more breaking shafts. However they do start to chatter just before 45° but that's easily avoided with my controller. The chassis is still 50:50 so I don't really need more than that anyway. Even if I do CS it it will only be m...

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

So I bit the bullet and ordered a set of the LD3 shafts since I know that they'll fit. With the amount of camber I'm running the HSP shafts are right near the bottom of the cup anyway so they should be fine. I've also ordered another set of the HSP shafts since they'll most likely get to me first so...

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

Well the HSP CVD shafts are not holding up well at the >45°steering angle that I'm getting. So I'm on the hunt for a decently priced set of shafts with 52-55mm pin centres, any ideas. I've looked into the HPI RS4 ones I mentioned above but I think they are too short. Similar story for the LD3 ones w...

Any chance of a link to that exact mesh?

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

Sorry guys, the video will have to wait a while longer. I attended my first comp on Sunday, I broke one of my CVD's in my driveway on Saturday afternoon and the other one during practice on Sunday. So I had to use standard dog-bones during the comp which was frustrating because I could not hold good...

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

Thanks, yeah it's hard sometimes owning a chassis with virtually no after-market support. But that's nothing that a bit of well thought out modification won't fix. I agree on the quality of the chassis, cheap bearings, thin dogbones, weak servo, etc. However the design is loosely based on the LRP S1...

OK so almost done, just the hubs left to modify. Shown in yellow here is the cut made through the C-hub carriers, note the retained piece of the C-hub with the cut plane shown is in red. http://imageshack.us/a/img837/9646/201301221756122.jpg Shown here is the new holes drilled in the hub, there is a...

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

Now the plan was to mount the inner end of the links to the steering pivots. One of these is a screw which poses no issues, however the other is a stud and lock nut. The stud was not long enough to mount the link and still get the lock nut on. So I had to extend the A pivot stud, I did this by way o...

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

Now most other steering mods to the HSP / REDCAT / HPI Maverick Strada involve grinding the hubs and C-hub carriers to allow the hub more range of movement. Now that just doesn't cut it for me, stuff breaks enough in normal circumstances without adding more weak points. So I hatched a plan to delete...

Re: Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

Next you can open out the internal radii pilot holes to 7mm or 9/32" and start trimming off the excess ally. I used a hack saw (not the one shown in photo) to quickly get to this point, after here it's onto the Dremmel. http://imageshack.us/a/img13/7035/20130121163327.jpg The roughed out shape ...

Proper HSP steering upgrade, zero Ackermann & c-hub delete.

OK so most efforts at improving the steering on the HSP / REDCAT / HPI Maverick Strada have really only succeeded in increasing the Ackermann angle. That is, yes the inner wheel gets more steering angle but the outer wheel gets a lot less. This has been due to lengthening and angling the steering ar...

Re: HSP FlyingFish steering upgrade FINISHED

Looks like the next step is a c-hub delete, that's probably the way I'll go when I need more lock. Also, more work is needed on the steering geometry to get rid of the ackerman problem, by giving the steering arms an angle from their pivot (the kinked arms) the ackerman angle has been increased. May...
