Street Jam Hilux

Postby Gdzilr » Mon Aug 26, 2013 4:54 am

Hey guys!

I'm from South Africa and it's a constant battle to get parts and bodies especially. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Street Jam Hilux. It may be the only one in the country.

Below are a few pictures to show what I've done with it.

There are a few cracks in the grille - I'm thinking it happened during the cutting process. I have a spare as the shell comes with 3 options. The next one will be black. It's easier to work with and hides imperfections a lot better.

I have to add a few accessories and I'm waiting for a new set of rims - I ordered a set of black aluminium rims to go with the look of the shell.

I'm running a 1.93 CS setup and I'm looking forward to seeing this thing sideways.

Let me know what you guys think.

I was looking at it, but because the GRT is based on the TA-05, it's easy to get parts locally if I need something. Yes, SA is very backwards and drifting is not very popular, well not as popular as racing (Hobby shops don't keep stock and if they do, they are very expensive so all the guys order online). A mate of mine has the R31FM and he battled to get his car going. He broke 2 or 3 main shafts and every time there was a 1 - 3 week wait to get new parts. Don't ask why he never ordered backups... I see the V3 GRT is out. I eventually want to go RWD, but I need to get married first before I buy more toys...

i had a buddy with similar problems with the front axles. I think he switched to yokomo C-clip style cvds (or the high angle suzuki ones may fit as well), just gotta find the right size.

hilux looks nice |O|

those look sweet. needs mirrors. street jam makes perfect mirrors for these trucks. u should use the decals it came with for the grill. give it more depth. if you find yourself frustrated with the fender clearance (especially up front) i shaved off like 2mm off mine and it really helped and is barely noticeable.
