Area/Location
I think it would be a good idea to have a sub-forum that allowed members to post where they are located to meet up with other drifters in their area. Im fairly new to drifting and it can be hard to find people. It would be cool if we had our own sub-forum where people could post where they meet up and when or what local tracks they are drifting at.
just an idea, thanks.

Re: Area/Location
There's an event's forum, but no regionals. You might try Rctech.net - they have regional sub-forums... though my area is mostly racers, not much interest in drifting here.

what part of NYC? Borough? Were in Jersey and have weekly indoor meets. There are also a couple teams in NY I can refer you to if you are near BX or Staten Island

Re: Area/Location
seems like this idea would be awfully simple(add another sub-forum in events) and would allow the drifter community ways to find each other and meet up.

Re: Area/Location
I'm down for regional threads. RC Tech is awesome... if you race.
Would be really great considering the activity of this forum. The other drift forums have regional threads, just too bad the latest postings are from like 2009 lol. My nearest LHS that supports drifting is Sheldon's in Sanjo but that's an hour away. Word on the streets is that there's RC drifting in Napa, which is alot closer, but that's hearsay. Sure would be nice to have regional threads.

But drifting is more fun and actually worth the $5.

Re: Area/Location
$5 is cheap - it's more expensive to run in a single class at the nearest on-road. And that follows typically race format, plus setup (shared community center)
45 minutes of setup - roll out the track, assemble driver stand
15-30 minutes open session
qualify for 7 minutes, wait for >1hr
race for 7 minutes, wait for >1hr
race for 7 minutes, wait for >1hr
finals fo 7 minutes, wait for >1hr
45 minutes of tear down
Realize you spent 6hrs for 1hr of track time, AND THERES NO DRIFTING!!
As it is, I had to buy a hand truck to transport the track parts from my garage. $5 is a steal for drift access, imho.
What are the other big drift forums?

I haven't found any drift forums that are really active unless you know Japanese.

Re: Area/Location
NW you'll love this one...
The URC on road forums are pretty drift active! According to the site admin, all you need to drift are hard tires! CS/front/mid motor/50deg steering and all that jazz aren't necessary! It's just "glitter and sprinkles"!
I do post there though because there's alot of "broke kids" (<--lol! NW!) who want to get into drifting and will believe almost anything anyone there tells them. Gotta show them there's alot more to drifting than hard tires.

Re: Area/Location
Yeah, just make some "drift" tires out of PVC from Home Depot and you can turn any car into a drifter.
