Yokomo DRB Set Up / Video Clip

Postby Katsumi » Mon Oct 04, 2010 2:55 am

Is this Set UP Spec?
I just change 84t Super and 27t Pinion and put on front one-way and FCD 1.5

Runs so stable. I recommended for Beginner this chassis but it was pricey. |O|

Hi Katsumi,

I have one questione, is there possible to find a center one way pulley for DRB, or some from BDM or BD-5 would fit?

Probably there are D-Like, HIP, Tamiya, of Center Pulley will fit to DRB but not sure.
Yokomo doesn't make it yet.

I think that center one-way of BD5 does not fit to DRB

Center one-way of BD5 is a design totally different from DRB and it's a super gear holder combined use.
DRB does not have enough space between Center Pulley and Motor.

You may be able to mount a Square one-way 15t pulley (SGE-315WBK) in there, but it depends on whether that flat spot is gonna hinder the one-way's bearing - not familiar with them to be honest, but the flat spot on the shaft, and whether or not the oneway bearing will 'grip' well enough would be your only issue that i can see... again tho - not familiar with centre one-way pulleys tho yet -lol-

Video looks great man, you have the 1.8 kit aswell, correct? And you have used the stock mounting position of shocks also? Man i'm loving not having to use screws to pop them off - i'm gonna get those ball cups for the rest of my shocks on the other cars hahaha =)

Ok DRB owners today had my first test drive with my sweeet red DRB, but I'm really confused that at half till full lock and middle till full throotle have some vierd virbrating sound coming out of front, dont really understand why it is? Mby you had expirienced something like that too, and how would i solve the problem? :(

BTW the chassis is really amazing runing on FCD2.0 and on carpet and its riding like heaven... :)

Did you put on grease the drive cup of ball diff and the small plastic parts of the axle? if you set a ball diff in the front.
Also I don't trust assembled Axle, I always grease up to CVD.

My DRB doesn't have any problem, when the first ball diff set up and I put in the front one-way now.

I did not grease CVD where he goes in diff cup, and I hope thats the problem... Also today I recognised that front and rear diffs have littlemovementto right and left, thinking mby some really thin shims will help...
I'll try to solve my prob and will share the solution.

Greased the CVD's, but the terrible sound still remains. Have to find really thin shims to put them betwene diff cup and bearing just like all yokomos diffs, and I really think that would help, couse as I whatched the front and rear diffs they have little movement left and right like 0.2 mm or so. On mediom and full throothle the diff wibrates and makes really terrible sound... :(

I guess theese will help me: http://www.super-rc.com/product_info.php?cPath=24_67_72&products_id=1591 !?

hey dan and pinka, how much camber are you running in the front? and are you using the yokomo blades on the universals? i noticed a clicking sound towards the front diff. i think it's the extreme camber pushing the universals tightly against the diff cups. using the 44mm dog bones would probably help or less camber. ive been busy and havent gotten a chance to mess around with mine yet.

Yes will fit 84t super but I measure it only 0.2mm clearance.
I recommended 83t max if runs in hi grip surface track.

If anyone else hasn't already figured it out, i had the same problem on my 2.0 Fijon ta05.

I made a 18 rear pulley for 2.0 CS and because the rear is now soooo fast, the belt will actually slip on bursts of throttle and quick stops.
To remedy this, you need to bring the FDR gearing back down. I.E. Spur and pinion.
I After changing the spur and pinion combo, the problem went away. I guess those yokomo 2.0 kits should come with FDR gears as well.
As for the Steering noise, That is Full lock binding. the angle of the steering is beginning to exceed the CVD's joint turning radius and is hooking up and creating vibrating noise. Front one ways, loose ball diffs, and grease help deal with this issue.

I installed D-Like Aluminum 40T pulley. I got more CS.
Image

Filming at July 17th 2011

Front one-way of DRB is in BD5W, but it's heard to fit on other pulley because that a flange is so big.

Image

Therefore I added Front one-way of BD to my DRB

As for Front one-way of BD, rotatory direction objects from DRB.
I installed bearing of Front one-way housing in the opposite.

Image

I installed Front one-way to my DRB.
Now the aluminum pulley of D-Like and Kawada 42t is kept in this, too.

Image

I used SD spool, marked screw holes.
Image

I drilled three holes
Image

The pulley installed to one-way

this is the way i want to go with my cs'd drb too, is the oneway from the bd5 only because the drb's oneway is in the bd5? or a particular reason you went with that oneway?.

im actually considering running a gear diff with 10k oil in the front of my cs drb, my 50/50 drb has duel gear diffs so might pinch one and try it out, forgo a 1way for the sake of testing.

I think he took the BD one-way because the flange is smaller, so he can mount the D-like pulley.
