Harbor Freight - Ultrasonic Cleaner

Postby nickvig » Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:02 pm

I recently helped a buddy do a thorough dis-assembly / clean / re-assembly of a used chassis he bought. I've always had a tough time cleaning bearings, even using the RPM bearing blaster with motor spray. So I went over to Harbor Freight and found this:

Throw some water in the unit, throw your bearings in there and watch the dirt and grime literally wash away. I re-oiled all the bearings with some Epic bearing oil and they were like brand new. If a whole bearing set after market is $30, and you buy this for $25 and your bearings three times a year, you've saved yourself some $$ over purchasing new bearings. It also worked well to clean the dirt off of cvd internals and dogbones themselves. Just make sure you re-oil or re-grease everything accordingly after cleaning.

They also have a battery operated unit, but I can't say how well it works. Also, it's only available via internet according to the guy in the HF store.

Just thought I'd share.
