84294 VDF2 :D will be announced at upcoming Shizouka Show.
Sounds like its got high-flex(traction) rear end & lowered layshaft.
Retains mid motor layout.

All-new XV-10 4WD tourer/rally sounds interesting too.

Interesting that they went to 2.5mm lower deck from 2.0mm which is already flexible. Much of the stiffness came from upper deck mounts and tensioner cross bars. Since it's still named ta05, I'm guessing ta05 drivetrain and bulkheads will still be used?

I believe "Short Ribasasu equipment" means "Short reversible suspension", which sucks big time. Tamiya still doesn't get drifting.

Should i sell my VDF before VDF2 is out?

could be thicker chassis plate but bigger cutouts & thinner waist,
adjustable chassis flex (ala Active & other 3rd party VDF chassis plates)

sounds like existing suspension & 37 diffs with 18 centre

VDF parallel rack or option ackermann rack like now

new layshaft... dunno whether its adjustable (of 3) position or there's 3 belts

Yeah it's supposed to have some special cutouts. It's going to have a one piece top deck, so will it be flat or vertical?

I always felt the ta05 gearboxes didnt belong on the vdf. It takes up alot of space and restricts steering rack from simple and effective mods. Most other front midship chassis have wide open space behind front bulkheads for easy modding. Because the steering rack has to sit so far back, they have to use those pesky steering extentions.

It is unfortunate that even in this model is nothing new.
3 belts - has already been.
Flex - also there.
Ackerman - too.

Well, when the Tamiya will do something new for the Drift?

The price on Banzai is fantastic, assuming this is similarly optioned to the VDF1, its another great option for new people in my area.

Tamiya obviously doesn't care. With their resources, they can make some serious money putting out drift shells and stuff.

in addition to changing the transmission and change of position servo is nothing new to see here.
as a chassis made of plastic is terribly high price.

Off course not, look at the steering bell cranks, they are not parrallel, absolutelly not ^^
But as we can see, nothing better than the VDF1, steering angle is same cuz same drive trains, shock towers...

I don't think that this chassis will have a lot of flex, I like the 3 belts but that's all, they don't made better than the VDF1, I've been a little bit deceived by TAMIYA with the VDF, and other stuffs like no CS kits... No more interest about drifting...

One piece upper deck will make it much more flexible than the original vdf. Steering won't be an issue as the front bulkhead section is wide open compared to the original vdf. Drag link on the steering rack adjusts ackerman angle. Looks like a pretty decent car. Tamiya is releasing a 'drift spec' suspension set, so they probably have higher steering angle than their normal racing suspension. For ~usd350 street price, it's a pretty good value. As much as people talk bad about the vdf, many people have good results with the car.

In stock form, ota and drb/dib don't have that much steering. Massive negative ackerman makes it look like it has crazy angle, but the knuckles are limited to 45deg.
