3 Racing Sakura CS Drift Sport Prototype

Postby boza » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:42 pm

3Racing out of Hong Kong is expected to announce a new Front Motor RC Drift chassis at the Shizuoka Hobby Show next month. It appears to have the integration of the Sakura FF and the Sakura XI, these pictures are of the current prototype. Technical changes are possible before it’s official announcement in May.

Definately interetested in this as a cheap chassis to experiment with. Pink makes it an easy sell as "the wife's" new drift car. hahahahaha.

I concur sir! But I will say that it does look like a bad a** chassis...

Nothing interesting.

I think D-expert prototype DFC-001 V1 chassis more interesting.

I wonder how much this thing will cost. I think its very interesting that 3racing is making a drift chassis....

That chassis really does look awesome, its like they just put in what was necessary and didn’t go over the top like Tamiya did with the VDF V2....

If the price is ok, then I would be really interested, as I find 3Racing parts to of good quality

Their similar spec'ed race chassis is very affordable, so I can't see this being more than 200USD. Looks like a good chassis.

Now yall know that when it comes out they are gonna have a conversion where the battery can have two layouts. I can see that coming, along with some RWD set up as well. This reminds me of how the R31 came out and how street Jam was stating that the R31 is a entry level chassis, but add some hop-ups and it's a bad a** chassis! I feel with a CF conversion along with a battery layout option this will be the chassis of 2012 like IMO the R31 was in 2011. The reason why I say the r31 was Chassis of the year is because EVERYONE HAS ONE. Now if this prototype comes tight, it might be the r31 of 2012.... I've never even drifted a sakura product before, it looks like PINK tamiya stuff with a twist, and if I'm right would TA05/r31 suspension work on this? Just wondering...

They will fit with some spacers. The SJ suspension arms are narrower than Sakura's. I have them in my conversion plus TEH/OTA R31 steering as well. Works better that way.

I saw some guys do this with the Sakura FF. That is where the concept started with the MST and the other FM conversions.

I hope this won't hit the 180 USD mark. Considering the FRP Zero S at 102 USD. I'd probably wait for the CF/Aluminum version though. I'm kinda lazy cleaning up tubs and plastics. Not that I have anything against them, just plain convenience.

Lance I feel you on that one! I might wait for the CF options to come as well. I don't like wrenching when I don't have to. Oh that project I'm working is coming along great might have something to show you soon! Again thanks!

They seem to be keeping a tight lip about this chassis.... Back in April this was just a prototype, pretty sure its was just to get something out for Spring Hobby Shows. Perhaps July or August release date?

I like the MST front motor chassis but I'm saving that one for indoor carpet thus this would be something I'd love to own for outdoor use. Plus the projected price point sounds extremely affordable.
