mikep415's yokomo Onevia

Postby mikep415 » Wed Aug 21, 2013 2:32 pm

decided to paint a onevia body. Originally I bought it with the intention of chopping it up for body pieces to transfer onto another shell. But, Decided to just paint it. I planned on doing a color I haven't done but I was too lazy to head to the hobby shop and get paint so I just used what I had.

Body: Yokomo D-max Onevia
Color: Tamiya PS37 Trans Red backed with Tamiya PS23 Gunmetal
light buckets: D-craft 180sx flip up lights(front) and yokomo PS13 rear buckets

some pics
Image
cut all the vents out
Image
Image
Image
might tuck some Equips with this body. If you're wondering what I was watching on TV, its "weeds" in case some may think its porn lol
Image

was gonna use yokomo 180SX buckets up front but decided on the D-craft buckets that I had for my 180sx I have yet to start.

To be continued.

got the trans red down. Did 4 light, even coats(half can or a little more) then backed it with gunmetal

backed with gunmetal
Image

pulled off the window masking from inside..found that there was lots of little scuffs, scratches probably from the accessories moving arount? anyway, masked the inside for the inside trim
Image
once sprayed and dried, I masked the outside for the matte trim
Image
sprayed matte trim

more to come.

outer trim painted and pulled off protective film(should have waited on that lol)
Image
mock up of exhaust..still deciding on how I want to make them or if I should use the yokomo or ABC hobby exhaust I have.
Image
pulled the inside masking off and took fresh outside pics.

now time for some details...tons to cover still, to be continued.

Little update.. added wrap-up next 3D decals to the headlights, tails, hood grille. D-craft flip-up buckets aren't the best fit for the onevia so some adjustments and little trimming will be needed.

Looks good! Real clean.

sent from my GNex
Rides: Sakura D3 full option car, 124% c/s (-3deg camber)
Schumacher Mi3 Carpet Spec (103% c/s now known as the experimental beater--rarely drive this one anymore).

Little update.

Masked off the base of the side mirrors to leave black and paint the rest the same as the onevia. Also sprayed the roof wing again.

thanks bro! will be fs once finished.

very slow progress..

mirrors painted and fitted, roof spoiler needs to be redone. gotta sand it down and respray. Its easy color matching trans/candy colors on lexan but on plastic, its a bit tricky.

small update on the onevia. Finally fixed the fitment of the flip-ups a bit but need to remount the right side headlight cover as it somewhat sags a bit in the pic. Intercooler piping has been redone and will be painted tonight. Exhause, cage, rearview mirror, rear under bumper and detachable rear bumper still to come plus some.

Image
Intercooler is HPI but painted and detail added.
Image
Will look way better once painted

Looks like styrene. You can get it from your LHS.

Little update. I decided to use the D-magic S13 under bumper. Still need to order magnets and make an exhaust/toe hook and add details.

made a temporary exhaust axle back mount. The exhaust and mount is temporary until I make a better, sturdy mount and maybe a different exhause. Looking to make some dual tips

The exhaust pipe fixing system seems fine! I think you just should paint the white tube black and it would be perfect...
