Magnetic Stealth Body Stand / Mount

Postby Nory » Thu Jan 26, 2012 1:06 pm

Well since i have seen that R2 sells http://www.r2hobbies.com/eng/proddetail ... 45042_code i goten the idea and designed and made a totally different system whitch is based on magnetic field since my job is based on magnetism.

I hope that you will like it.

Magnetic holder with L type aluminium and 3M DUAL LOCK conected to the Body

It is so compatible that I can turn it in any direction and any angle that the body requiers, and the 3M DUAL LOCK enables it to be mounted or dismounted to any body that I have.

On the training when i have hit the wall in my apartment the body just bounced upwords and came back on the chysis on the same place maybe 1-2 mm left or right witch is nothing. But if I need to get the body of the chysis it is removed in a secound as you can see on the video.

Enjoy.

Pretty cool idea...
I definitely think you are on something here...

I used the plastic stealth mount kit - but eventually it frustrated the living daylights out of me. I moved back to normal body posts.

How well does it stay planted in a normal drift environment?
The plastic mounts would pop off in even the smallest crashes...

It is prety stabile when you hit the wall or someone hits you or you hit him.

In the colision it bounces sometime up and than the magnetic thakes the charge and pulls the body back in the first place, but sometimes its not in the same position but 1or max 2 mm to the side or up and down witch is not noticeble from the distance of few meters or evan a metar, but when you get it in your heands bat than you notice the change of the position.

My plan was allso to buy the plasticv stealth mounts but forunetly a had do do some machine project on my job and than there was a lots of ideas on my mind i this one was kind of one of them wich got my atencion and i tryed it like this.

Maybe im gona do some other changes when i get the time, but if you want i can post you the plan of the parts so you can change them to fit you chassis.

I had the same idea as you did. I had the r2 mounts but the velcro isn't working too well for me. I tried magnets but the problem I'm having is the strength of the magnets. They were too weak. Do you have anything that's strong? Need a round set about 13mm x 2mm. I used 8 magnets for the mount and shell. send me a pm if you have anything.

K&J Magnetics online has rare earth. Get the "expensive" ones, once you figure out size. Mine hold 3.5lbs each, when applied magnet to magnet. Very strong.

I agree with MULTI-BASH!!!

I do not know the background of my magnets, but I know they are NEODYMIUM and are extremly strong. They are that strong that i had to put an distance betwean them of 1mm so I can split them.

Try to buy them but take in consider the polarity and the size of an conecting plate so you can split them apart.

I agrre with Nory!

Rear magnets I have covered in one layer of tape to make removal easier. Front magnets are mounted under the bar, to keep the forces down (makes it so you can pop the lid like a funny car - front first)
