Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
sounds good...let me know if there is anything else that I can help out with.
I love this chassis now as I have it and am trying to get as much practice as I can with it...I mainly practice on carpet drift track at the LHS.

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
Guys new problem here  i just installed all of my belts and pulleys and i noticed something wierd. As you can see in the pics the center belt tends to touch the front diffrential and the bottom. I installed the belt tensioner (Sakura Zero) and i the problem exists again but now it only touches the diff. I think that i have assembled everything correct following the manual.

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
The aluminum solid axle or FOW will help since it doesnt have the plastic supports that go diagonally which could rub the belt.
I would highly suggest the Front One Way for this chassis since it will greatly help you with transitions.
Make sure you rebuild the CVDs/axles before even running them as they tend to come loose...grind a small flat spot on the pins (so that the set screw has a better surface to grab onto) then use a small drop of red threadlock on the set screw to prevent it from backing out.
You will experience chatter at full lock..the UWA and aluminum steering will help with that and get you the full wide angle steering which also helps with transitions.

Hey, does FOW ver. 2 from sakura zero work in d3 too? http://www.rcmart.com/3racing-front-sak ... 31677.html
And is the 10 degree aluminum c-hub upgrade worth it? http://www.rcmart.com/3racing-sakd309pk ... _1419_1566

Zero FOW should work fine..just don't use the spacer that it comes with since pulley placement is different since D3 is a 3belt chassis.
My D3 is fully hopped up plus some mods. So to me, it is worth it.

That seems like a good other alternative option...but I might rather have the Broadtech full optioned R31 for a little bit more money.
...or an MST!!!

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
The devil drift seems nice.
I have embarked on an even more advanced setup...I have successfully hopped up a Posican suspension setup to my D3...taken off from those Dori-drifters from Japan.
I got the help from Caseymacgyver from rctech forums.

I'm liking that setup. I've been thinking of doing a BAGI setup on my rear to test it out.
Right now I am running fully hopped-up, stock CS ratio, with a 13.5 brushless, stock spur, 18T pinion, +1 toe out in the front and RR+20.
It drifts really good and is very stable and predictable but I lack a bit of power.
Does your setup helps for longer drifting? What's the major benefit you felt?

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
Im not sure if it really helped with longer drifts since thats the advantage of a front motor...but I am able to tune my suspension better now with the posican setup. I ended up adding soft springs on the rear vertical shocks with some RC926 soft spring set I have and have felt a marked difference. I am now beginning to get better at drifting this and having a lot of fun!
What do u drift on? Im running 10.5 speed passion and had to turn down my throttle end point down to 70% with good results.
If u r running on carpet, the extra power is not needed as the slip turns to grip. Try it out and see.

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
hey guys! My D3 is on the way, can you please tell me what spur/pinion (gearing range - 48 pitch) would i need for a 17.5T brushless motor? I know its a bit slow but thats what i have at the moment. Would it be ok to keep that or should i buy a 10.5 instead? Thanks in advance!

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
I would try out the 17.5T for now and just enjoy it and learn with it. There's no need to buy extra equipment if it works for you. Just play with the gearing and see how it does and monitor your temps so that you don't burn up the motor. If you want to be more exact with the FDR for the spur and pinion ratio, look up the manufacturer's suggested FDR for that motor and then calculate it so you can be in the safe zone.

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
Its an x20 stock spec. LRP suggests an FDR arround 6 for touring cars. i used to have a 3.2 FDR for my f1 car. Should my cs FDR be somewhere arround 6-6.5 for drifting?

Haha, and i'm looking to replace my 10.5T with 17.5T. It all depends on your driving style and track size. It's definitely not wise to order another motor blind, try what you have first.

thats what i intend to do thnx. I just want to know the fdr i need for the 17.5 motor so i can buy a couple of pinions in that range. Want to drift as soon as i build the car dont want to wait. heheheh

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
Stick with the 6-6.5 FDR since that is the spec for your motor, you can adjust EPA on your remote. And like I said, you don't need a ton of power. Unless you are trying to race around the track...but racing around the track is not really drifting. It's more about style and angles and the beauty of the drift

Re: 3 Racing Sakura D3 CS
I just dusted my chassis off since I built it. Haven't drove it a lot since then, but what are some of the first upgrades I should do? as far as the shocks are the stocks good enough or will I be looking to upgrade those? It came with a FOW and a rear spool. What other aluminum parts would be a good upgrade as far as keeping weak points that break first?

Knuckles and aluminum steering plus the ultra wide angle CVDs would be your first bets for alum upgrades...so that you can have greater angles which will help it drift better
