Hobywing 10.5 sensored amper draw

Postby FoiVoS_ » Fri May 24, 2013 12:13 am

Hello guys i have bought a hobbywing xerun combo with a 90amper esc and a 10.5 sensored motor. I am now planning to buy a battery. I dont know how much ambers the motor consumes. My question is how much ampers should the battery be able to provide ? For example a turnigy battery with 5400mAh and 30C discharge rating is able to give around 162 Ampers.. Is that enough ?
Thanks in advance guys !

It depends on surface, tyres and track configuration, but well maintained and properly set-up drift chassis can run up to one hour on 5000mAh battery. That means average power draw is 5A, or 1C. But to be safe, get 40C+ battery and reasonably sized capacitor. I've seen 20C batteries brown out on tarmac and carpet.
