VDF steering + OTA-31 suspension kit + TC-D Steering Crank

Postby hamster82 » Wed Mar 09, 2011 4:47 am

New Updates !!!

HPI 61766 (steering crank right)
HPI 61767 (steering crank left)
HPI 61765 (steering post)

The above are all TC-D part no.

I inverted the original steering post and added 0.5 mm shim below it to ensure minimum clearance of the steering crank.

Reason for inverting the steering post is so that my turn buckle will not hit my bulkhead.

If i were you i would remove one of the spacers on the steeringrack, you seem to have some reversed ackerman.

U are right about that calzone, i already did that, not sure why that happens but that seems to be the case for OTA-31 chassis too. It just the design of the kit itself i guess.

it depends on where you take the picture. because of the caster/kick-up you want to look at the steering in front of the shock tower not from behind ;)

Whats the reason you went for a TC-D crank instead of the VDF? Aren't you getting a lot of ackerman whith those bended arms/to much lock to drive properly?

As you can see the TC-D steering crank allows me to position the ball connector at the top of the knuckles. And no mod is need for the fiction arm, previously i had to mod the fiction arm, also i had to add the extension outwards to get 0 ackerman.

Don't worry about the bent arms they have no effect on the ackerman at all, this is because it is the steering bridge is pivoting about the steering crank and it's parallel. ;)

The TC-D steering crank also allows me to use my servo at it's original position.

Hello, since I had only bad experiences with the universal shaft with more angle than 45 degrees create should however was fast broken. I would like also the OTA-31 suspension to plug. Must in addition aluminum Bulkhead to be blocked around more place for more steering angle to have? With the orginal Buklhead from plastic is below upper turn buckle shaft less place.

In the pictures it is to be seen that only little thread remains with the OTA-31 universal shank, how much offset is still possible?

Regards
