OTA-R31 Steering on TA05-SP

Postby Banggotan » Fri Oct 29, 2010 4:16 am

Hi guys,

Its been a while since I mess around with my ta05 SP

I purchased the streetjam OTA-R31 suspension kit and installed it to my SP

well here's how it turns out

Image

Sorry for the bad quality picture.

I'll find some free time to take some better ones..

All in all, the steering angle becomes 50 degrees at full lock

The knuckle and dogbone design are a bit different that common one.. but structural wise, I think it is strong and well built

Cheers

Surprisingly no chatter.. The design is different. The hubcap is wider allowing the dogbone to clear 50 degrees angle. I'll post up the manual to make things clear.. gimme a moment

Okay.. here are some quick pictures

This is the package I got
Image

Notice that street jam gave me everything I needed including rear arms, knuckles, and dogbones..
Image

It came with english instruction manual!
Image
Notice the wheel bearings are different sizes for 1 corner

The manual is complete and easy to understand
Image

Here are some quick shots of the mechanism.. the grey stuff is some Anti Wear Grease
Image

Notice the inner wheel bearing snaps around the hubcap giving it a solid seating
Image

At full lock, the rotation of the dogbones are smooth
Image

Just a quick picture of how the steering angle look with body attached

Where did you buy the suspension set from? And where can you get the OTA-R31 chassis from?

Nice mod! Lots of angle there!

1st, you gotta fill out the form with the part numbers of the items that you want to purchase.
Then you e-mail the form to them.

After about 2 hours or so, they will reply you with the complete quotations (including shipping to your country).

If you're okay with the prices, either you immediately pay by CC or paypal, then they will ship it the same day.

less than a week later, the package arrives (assuming the package doesnt get stuck @ customs)

Happy hunting :-D

Without C-hub+knuckle assembly, about 45mm long
With C-hub+knuckle assembly, about 57mm long <-- use this as reference because the mechanism is slightly different than conventional C-hub+knuckle assembly

Fully assembled, the suspension kit's dimension will be exactly the same as TA05's. Wheelbase & wheel offset fitment do not change at all.
I have the feeling that OTA-R31 is designed based on a TA05, but we all know suspension arms are kind of a universal thing... I think they should fit into an MR4TC with minor adjustments

The length of the arms may differ along with manufacturer, thats why I worry. The OTA-R uses Buggy style hubs, I am familiar with those. The UJ design is not exactly uncommon either. Its when you combine both that it becomes awesomeness...
